2017 marks the centennial of JFK's birth. Brookline, Boston and neighboring communities are celebrating with a series of events.  Please join us to commemorate this historic day.

May 31.

February 20 –John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site open for Presidents' Day

February 20 – Opening of exhibit John Fitzgerald Kennedy: The First One Hundred Years
This exhibit highlighting JFK’s presidency and legacy will be on display for the rest of the year.

March 29 – Close to Home: Autobiographies, Memoirs and Family Stories for Young Readers and Writers
A conference for teachers and school librarians. Award-winning writers explore ways that autobiography, memoirs and family stories can serve as stepping stones into history for today’s young readers and writers. Co-presented with the John F. Kennedy Library.

April 3 – Out of the Attic: The Maids of 83 Beals Street
Learn the story of the two maids who worked for the Kennedys in 1920 in this living history program.

April 22 – Junior Ranger Day
John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site will open for tours and debut a new Junior Ranger book for children.

May 5 –John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site opens for the season
John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site will be open Wednesday – Sunday from 9:30 to 5:00 through October for guided tours and open house viewings. This may change to open daily from 9:30 to 5:00 through October if funding and staffing allow.  Check for updates and the full schedule at www.nps.gov/jofi.

May 22 – Screening of PT-109
JFK’s heroic actions during WWII brought to the big screen in this 1963 film starring Cliff Robertson.

May 26 – “What JFK Means to Me” Ceremony
The culmination of a collaborative program with third grade students from the Edward Devotion School in Brookline, this ceremony celebrates student-written poetry and the winners of a student essay contest.

May 29 – JFK Centennial Celebration 
John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site’s celebration will include speeches, music by Brookline Music School, birthday cake, commemorative postal service cancellations and cachets, and more.

May 29 – 1960s Sock Hop
Celebrate JFK’s birthday with an evening dance party to music and party food of the 1960s.

May 29 – Screening of Apollo 13
1995 Oscar-winning film stars Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, and Kevin Bacon as astronauts fighting for survival.

“Dine Like a Kennedy: Cuisine of JFK from Childhood to the White House,” featured on the May menu of The Fireplace restaurant in Brookline by owner and JFK 100 in Brookline community partner Jim Solomon.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site will be open for the day. At 2:00, a wreath-laying ceremony will commemorate the life and legacy of JFK.
