The Town of Brookline encourages all those who live, work, study, play and visit Brookline to take time to be better prepared before, during, and after severe weather events and emergencies of any nature. Below you will find tips on how to be prepared as well as contact information for reporting utility outages and emergencies. 


ALERT BROOKLINE: Brookline's Emergency Notification System

Alert Brookline is the Town of Brookline's emergency notification system used to keep citizens informed during emergencies. This portal allows users to sign up to receive emergency notifications from the Town via telephone land-lines, cellular phones, email, and text messages (or a combination of various methods). In addition, each subscription allows users to enter contact information for other members of your home, office, or dorm. Sign up online today.


MASSACHUSETTS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (MEMA)

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) website offers comprehensive tips and information on preparedness, including how to build an emergency kit, how to receive emergency alerts, dealing with pets, preparing your home and much more.


TIPS ON CONTACTING UTILITY COMPANIES

  • Before contacting your utilities, be sure to have your account information available. 
  • Store each of your utility companys' information as a Contact in your mobile device(s); make sure everyone in your home or office does the same. Be sure to include your account number when creating a contact for each of your utility companies.
  • Make sure that every adult and minor caretakers also know how to reach your utility companies.
  • For downed power lines, call 9-1-1
