Welcome to the Office of Town Counsel’s website. Our office functions as the legal counsel for the Town of Brookline. We provide legal support and representation for the Town, including its officials, boards, commissions, and employees in Town related matters. The Town is a self-insured municipality. The Office of Town Counsel is responsible for representing the Town in a variety of matters, including: claims of civil rights violations, discrimination, breach of contract, education law, employment disciplinary appeals, personal injury and/or property damage cases and claims, zoning appeals and tax assessment appeals. This office pursues actions against tax-delinquent properties, as well as filing Proof of Claims at the Bankruptcy Court. The Office of Town Counsel is unable to provide legal assistance to private citizens.
