The Runkle School Building Committee is responsible for the general monitoring of the grant application process and to advise the Town during the construction of the project.

PROJECT UPDATE

On January 6, 2009, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) and the Town of Brookline, through the Designer Selection Panel (DSP), recommended that a contract be awarded to Design Partnership of Cambridge, Inc for the design of the Runkle School project (click here for press release).

On July 20, 2009, the Runkle School Building Committee approved a preliminary design for the project.

At the November 17, 2009 Special Town Meeting, a $29.1 million bond authorization was approved to fund the project.  Per a vote of the MSBA, the State is expected to pay for 41.58% of eligible costs, estimated at approximately $11.8 million.

On February 4, 2010, the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) approved the School Department's request for a special permit.
