The Town Clerk's responsibilities, which are mandated by Federal and State statutes and Town By-Laws, include the maintenance of public records, the administration of fair and accurate elections, the registration of voters, and the preservation of the actions and directives of the Town's legislative branch (Town Meeting). In addition to his general duties the Town Clerk also serves as Secretary to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Registrars of Voters. The Town Clerk is also a Notary Public and a Justice of the Peace and as such, has the authority to notarize documents signed in his presence and to perform civil marriage ceremonies.
