May 2015

The work at Eliot Playground/Warren Field is nearly complete, and the park is open for use. Improvements included the following:

  • New play equipment for ages two to five and ages five to twelve years;
  • The existing spray pool remains with expanded paving and additional seating;
  • New fencing and baseball backstop;
  • Improved drainage;
  • New ornamental and screen plantings; and
  • An accessible walking path around the perimeter.

At this point the work that remains to be done is installation of some additional site furniture in the play areas and final tweaking of some of the play equipment elements. We also need to protect the newly seeded lawn areas which are protected by orange snow fencing. These new lawn areas will need to be fenced off until the turf becomes established, and we appreciate your help in keeping people and dogs off the tender grass.

March 2015

Construction is expected to resume at Eliot Playground/Warren Field in April after the winter break. The overall scope of work has included the following:

  • New play equipment for ages two to five and ages five to twelve years;
  • The existing spray pool remains with expanded paving and additional seating;
  • New fencing and baseball backstop;
  • New site furniture in the two play areas;
  • Improved drainage;
  • New ornamental and screen plantings; and
  • An accessible walking path around the perimeter.

At this point the work that remains to be done is some additional work at the five to twelve year old’s play equipment, fencing, installation of additional site furniture, grading along the new path at the northern property line, and establishment of new lawn areas where the existing turf was disturbed by the new paths and play equipment. These new lawn areas will need to be fenced off until the turf becomes established, but we anticipate that work will resume as soon as the weather permits and that the park, including the ball fields, will reopen this spring.
