Brookline Green Electricity includes 30% more renewable energy than is required by law, which is supplied to Direct Energy Services by a non-profit third party called Green Energy Consumers Alliance (formerly Mass Energy Consumers Alliance). The portion of what you pay per kilowatt hour for the additional renewable energy electricity ultimately goes to this non-profit and therefore may be eligible as an itemized tax deduction; please consult with your tax advisor about your tax eligibility status. The link below to the tax deduction calculator generates a receipt, sent to your email account, for tax preparation purposes and assumes that you have paid your electric bill in full.
If you have opted up to the Brookline All Green 100% renewable energy product, Green Energy Consumers Alliance will automatically mail you a receipt for tax preparation purposes; therefore, you do not need to generate a receipt via this calculator.
Disclaimer: The Town of Brookline, Direct Energy Services, and Green Energy Consumers Alliance do not provide tax advice. Please consult with your tax advisor about your tax eligibility status. Green Energy Consumers Alliance has devised this calculator. The Town of Brookline is not responsible for any calculation errors. It is assumed that you have paid your electric bill in full.
*As of December 26, 2019, Green Energy Consumers Alliance is in the middle of updating their Brookline calculator to reflect the new phase of the Brookline Green Electricity program, beginning January 2020. This link will be restored once Green Energy Consumers Alliance's webpage for Brookline is updated.
