- Beacon St. Green Transport Projects
The Select Board has adopted the 2018 Climate Action Plan (CAP) and a policy to prioritize planning to achieve zero emissions community-wide by 2050. CAP Strategy 3, Improved Transportation Options, prioritizes modes of transportation that do not rely on fossil fuels. These priorities include the following improvements on Beacon Street, one of five major through-fares in Brookline:
• reliable EV charging infrastructure: installing DC fast, Level 2 charging stations to support residential garage orphans, regional commuters, and visitors to our cultural and commercial districts
• new EV car share: providing 10 EV car share spots
• more bike infrastructure: preparing a feasibility study to scope out a bike path on the median
• safer pedestrian access: obtaining State funding for Complete Streets projects
This venture is a joint partnership of the Town of Brookline, Eversource Make-Ready infrastructure program, Electrify America Cycle 2 Investment, Greenlots, and Greenspot with support from the Town's EV Charging Study Committee and the State's Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
