The Engineering & Transportation Division, in conjunction with the Highway Division, will be installing new benches along the public way to improve pedestrian amenities and promote walkability and public transit in the Town.
This multi-year project, which has been funded through the Town's Transportation Network Fees, is a joint project between staff from the Transportation Division and the Select Board's Age Friendly Cities Committee, the Shared Mobility Advisory Committee, the Pedestrian Advisory Committee, & the Brookline Community Aging Network. It includes the installation of benches along the public way at key MBTA Bus stop locations as well as other locations along our main corridors to promote public transit access and the walkability of the community as part of the Town's commitment to remain an Age-Friendly Community through the World Health Organization's Age Friendly Communities program.
