Eligible Candidate Requirements
How to Obtain a Temporary Parking Permit
Tradesmen - Daytime Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 30 days to a tradesman for the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. provided they have:
- Are hired by a Brookline resident to perform services at their residential location
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a valid building permit issued by the Town of Brookline or a valid contract between the resident and the tradesman describing the service being provided (if the building permit is not applicable)
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
Residents with Construction-Related Activities - Daytime Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 30 days to a resident for the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. provided they:
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a valid Building Permit issued by the Town of Brookline or a valid contract between the resident and the tradesmen describing the service being provided (if the building permit is not applicable)
- Reside on a public way that is not eligible for a Daytime Resident Permit
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
Said application to be submitted by a condo association or a building manager, if applicable, for all displaced vehicles.
Residents with Construction-Related Activities - Overnight Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 30 days to a resident displaced for construction reasons for the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. provided they have:
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a valid building permit issued by the Town of Brookline or a valid contract between the resident and the tradesmen describing the service being provided (if the building permit is not applicable)
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
Said application to be submitted by a condo association or a building manager, if applicable, for all displaced vehicles.
Guests or Visitors - Overnight Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 30 days to a guest or visitor for the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. provided they:
- Are guests or visitors of a Brookline resident and are staying in the resident's dwelling unit
- Do not reside within a ¼ mile radius of the nearest overnight public parking lot
- Paid the necessary fee
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
In-Home Child Care Provider - Daytime Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 180 days to an in-home child care provider for the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. provided they:
- Are hired by a Brookline resident to perform services at their residential location
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a letter of employment signed by a Brookline resident
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
In-Home Health Care Provider - Daytime Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 180 days to an in-home heath care provider for the hours of 8am to 6pm provided they:
- Are hired by a Brookline resident to perform services at their residential location
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a letter of engagement from a Massachusetts licensed health care agency, physician, or social worker from the Brookline Council on Aging
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
In-Home Health Care Provider - Overnight Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 180 days to an in-home health care provider for the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. provided they:
- Are hired by a Brookline resident to perform services at their residential location
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a letter of engagement from a Massachusetts licensed healthcare agency, physician, or social worker from the Brookline Council on Aging
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
Said permit will be issued for a public parking lot if the residential address is within a 500-ft. radius of the nearest overnight public parking lot.
Seasonal Tradesmen - Daytime Hours
A temporary permit may be issued for a maximum of 240 days to a seasonal employee for the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. provided they:
- Are hired by a Brookline resident to perform services at their residential location
- Paid the necessary fee
- Provided a valid contract between the resident and the tradesman describing the service being provided
- Submitted a completed temporary parking permit pre-approval application
