Bulk Items and Overflow Trash
Click the buttons below to see more information about Bulk Item Pickups or our Overflow Trash Bags.
Call 617-730-2156 one week in advance of your regular trash pickup to schedule a Bulk Item Pickup. Pickups may only be scheduled on one of your garbage collection days.
For residents on our town's trash services, our Sanitation Division will collect bulky and metal items that do not fit into your trash cart for a maximum of four (4) items per week. Bulky and metal items must classify as a piece of furniture or an appliance. This includes couches, white goods, stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners, CRTs, TVs, etc.
Construction/remodeling materials, hazardous waste, automobile parts, and gym equipment are all ineligible for a special pickup request. These items should instead be removed by a private waste hauler.
We encourage you to try to donate or sell any furniture or appliances that are in good condition, as this is almost always the most environmental method or disposal.

Residents who are on our Town's trash service may purchase overflow bags for the weeks that they have more garbage than usual. Up to ten of the purple overflow bags marked with Brookline's seal may be placed out for collection in addition to the usual refuse bins on your regularly scheduled garbage day.
Residents must use the Town's marked purple overflow bags and not their own separately purchased trash bags.
