Thank you for registering for our first Townwide Forum on Housing Affordability last month on June 14, 2020. We were thrilled to have nearly 350 registrants for the event, and apologize to any of you that had technical problems with access (we’ve fixed the problems for next time, we promise). For those that missed it, you can find a link to watch it here, along with links to the speakers' biographies and their presentations.
Forum II: Elements of Successful Strategies, to be held on Sunday, July 26, from 1:00-3:00 PM, will focus on two specific examples -- Somerville and Minneapolis — where sustained local efforts were successful in addressing barriers to increasing the supply of affordable housing at multiple low and middle income levels. We will be looking not just at technical aspects of the change, but on the local community engagement strategies involving economic development, climate change, transportation, and diversity and inclusion that were part of the effort to increase housing affordability.
Our panelists and moderators are: George Proakis, Executive Director, Somerville Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development, and Janne Flisrand, Neighbors for More Neighbors, Minneapolis, Rashmi Dyal-Chand, Professor of Law and Affiliate Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs Northeastern University School of Law, and Wendell Joseph, Professional Planner, Sasaki, and former Neighborhood Planner, City of Cambridge.

Though the building is still under construction, Peabody Properties is targeting a Fall 2020 occupancy.
