June Public Meetings on 9th School Site Selection

Upcoming Public Meetings on 9th School Site Selection

 
There will be two public meetings about the 9th school site selection in June. 

June 7 at 8:00 p.m. in the Selectmen's Hearing Room:
The Board of Selectmen and the School Committee will get an update on the Site Selection Study that is starting and review the current timeline for selecting a site in October 2016 for a 9th K-8 elementary school.  The public is welcome to attend. There will be no public comment or Q&A at this meeting due to it being part of the regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting. 

June 14 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the School Committee Room: 
Community members are invited to attend a public meeting about the 9th School Site Selection Study. Jonathan Levi Architects (JLA), the architectural firm doing the site selection studies will update the public on the type of work they will be doing and will gather community input on the three sites being studied this spring/summer. There will also be an update on the site selection process and timeline. After the presentation, there will be time for community members to provide the architects with comments and questions as they begin studying the three sites. 

Tentatively Scheduled Upcoming Meetings Prior to Site Selection

 

As part of the ongoing site selection process, the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee will continue to engage and update the public. The Site Selection Study will continue this summer and more public meetings and hearings will occur in the fall prior to final site selection on October 13. The tentative schedule for upcoming public meetings is below. Please look for updates on final dates and times here.

June-August 2016:
  • June 14: School Committee hosted public meeting to provide input to JLA
  • July 26: Joint School Committee/Board of Selectmen meeting: JLA shares
  • preliminary findings of Site Selection Study
  • August 16: BOS/BSC Executive Session on site cost and other issues]
September-October 2016:
  • September 8: School Committee/Board of Selectmen joint meeting for JLA presentation on completed Site Selection Study findings
Mid-September – Early October: 
  • Two Open House meetings; a Public Hearing; meetings with neighborhood associations
  • October 13: Final Site Selection: Joint School Committee/Board of Selectmen public meeting to make final site selection
