Brookline Parks & Recreation Strategic Plan Survey
Residents Encouraged to Participate!!
Keep your eyes open for a Park, Recreation and Athletic Fields survey that will arrive in some resident mail boxes within the next week. The Town of Brookline has commissioned a Parks and Recreation community survey as part of an effort to help update and shape the Town’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Strategic Master Plan that will be utilized by the Town to guide planning, facility development, programs and services for the next 5 to 20 years. A random sampling of residents has been invited to take a survey, and these responses will provide statistically valid results. The results of this survey will provide critical information in determining community values, satisfaction levels, needs and priorities, and demographics for the Town’s long-term planning efforts. Questions will be asked about what types of programs, facilities, and services residents want in their parks and recreation system and where priorities should be placed.
This project is led by GreenPlay, LLC, with survey and data work done by RRC Associates. A total of 4,000 households in Brookline have been mailed a survey with an anticipated arrival date of September 13 -16, 2019, and responses from these residents will comprise the statistically-valid sample. If you receive this survey in the mail please reply! Your response matters.
In addition, the Town invites all residents, who were not part of the random sampling, to provide feedback and input through an open-link survey that will go live on September 22, 2019 at the Brookline Day Celebration (check out brooklineday.org for event details). The live link will also be shared with Town Meeting Members, neighborhood associations, boards and commissions and will be on the Town website. The open-link survey will give all residents an opportunity to provide feedback, and your responses will be included in the final analysis. While open-link results will be kept separate from the statistically valid responses, these responses will none-the-less provide valuable feedback for the Town of Brookline. Community input is an important part of this process and helps the Town to best tailor the plan to reflect the community’s desires and needs.
Again, please look out for the survey in the mail. It will take about 15 minutes to complete, but will provide tremendous insight into what Brookline residents care about for the community in terms of parks and recreation programs, facilities and services.
