COMMUNITY FEEDBACK NEEDED on:
Proposed By-Law (Warrant Article 21) that would prohibit the installation of fossil fuel infrastructure in new buildings and gut rehabilitation projects in Brookline.
Real estate developers, property owners, building trade professionals, institutions, restaurants and other businesses, and all members of the public are invited to community feedback sessions on a proposed Town By-Law that, if passed by Town Meeting, would prohibit the installation of fossil fuel infrastructure in new buildings and gut rehabilitation projects in Brookline. For these types of construction projects, installing gas or oil piping would be prohibited. This will have the effect of preventing the installation of new major appliances (e.g., boilers, furnaces, hot water heaters, clothes dryers, cooktops, stoves) or other systems that require on-site combustion of fossil fuels (e.g., natural gas or oil) for these types of projects. The Town of Brookline’s Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB) and Sustainability Office are co-hosting community feedback sessions:
