[ARCHIVED] Water Main Flushing Program

The Brookline Water and Sewer Division will be conducting a Water Main Flushing Program starting September 20, 2015 and continuing through October 16, 2015. The areas to be flushed include:

· Boylston Street - Sumner Rd. to Washington St.

· Runkle School area

· Sargent Estates

· Walnut St. and Cypress St. to Pond Ave. including High St. Hill

· Brookline High School area

· Brookline Village area

· Beacon Street - Cleveland Circle to Harvard St.

Flushing of water mains serving these areas will be conducted between the hours of 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Water mains will be flushed by releasing water from selected fire hydrants in each area.

Water main flushing is an effective method of improving drinking water quality for residents and businesses and is an integral component of the water utility’s distribution system maintenance program.

The flushing process may cause discolored water and a reduction in pressure. These conditions will be temporary and any discoloration will not be harmful. If conditions persist, please contact the Water & Sewer Division at 617-730-2175.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Water Main Flushing Program please contact the Water & Sewer Division at 617-730-2170 Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
