[ARCHIVED] Town Clerk Urges Residents to Send in 2016 Census

Town Clerk Patrick Ward reminds residents that the 2016 Annual Street Listing/Town Census must be completed, signed and returned to the Town of Brookline, as soon as possible. These census forms may be returned by mail to the Registrars of Voters, Town of Brookline, P.O. Box 470860, Brookline Village, MA 02447-0860 or delivered by hand to the Office of the Town Clerk, Town Hall – Room 104, 333 Washington Street, Brookline, MA 02445. Additionally, residents may return their signed census forms, as a pdf, by emailing it to Town Clerk Patrick Ward at [email protected]

Your Census information, the collection of which is required by state law, is used by the Town of Brookline to track demographic trends in order to improve the delivery of services and the allocation of resources throughout our community. It also allows individuals and families to establish residency for the purposes of voting, public school enrollment, affordable housing, in-state college tuition, veteran’s bonuses, and residential tax exemptions.

Most importantly, it is the primary tool the Board of Registrars of Voters has to manage the List of Registered Voters in the Town of Brookline. Returning your signed census forms will help prevent additional delays and longer lines on election day for voters.

Since this is a Presidential Election year, with a higher than normal turnout anticipated, it is very important for each household in the Town of Brookline to complete and return their signed census forms as soon as possible. It will help prevent voters in that household from being placed on the In-Active Voters List - which ultimately may result in removal from the Voter Registration Rolls.

For more information please contact the Office of the Town Clerk at 617.730.2010. Thank you for your cooperation.
