Brookline’s bylaws require property owners to “maintain sidewalks contiguous to their property in a non-slippery condition suitable for pedestrian travel by clearing all snow and ice from a pathway at least thirty-six (36) inches in width”.  The cleared walk must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the removal of snow and ice from any adjoining wheelchair ramps or curb cuts.

Please help all members of our community move safely through Town and comply with the bylaw as soon as possible within the required timeframe.

The storm end time is Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 9:00 AM.

Commercial properties and multi-family residences (more than 4 units) must comply within 3 hours of the storm’s end at latest by 12:00pm/Noon on January 27, 2021.

Single-family and multi-family residences (less than 4 units) must comply within 30 hours of the storm’s end at latest by January 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM.

Failure to comply with the Town’s Snow Removal Bylaw could results in fines ranging from $100-$250 per day.
