Did you know that 40% of waste burned or buried in Massachusetts could be recycled or composted?
America Recycles Week, Nov. 13th - 19th, is a celebration of the importance and impact of recycling across the nation. In honor of America Recycles Week, the Town of Brookline's DPW will host a clothing drive in partnership with Helpsy! Bring your excess clothing, shoes, and home textiles to be reused and recycled. The clothing drive will take place in the Centre St West Parking Lot on Friday, Nov. 18th from 10 am - 5 pm. All clean and dry textiles will be accepted (even items with stains or missing buttons), including linens, towels, shoes and accessories (e.g., hats, gloves, socks, belts, handbags, purses, etc.). A complete list of what the Town's textile recycling partner, Helspy, accepts can be found here.
Can't make it to the clothing drive? Residents looking to recycle their textiles can easily schedule a home pickup by visiting the Helpsy website or calling 1-800-244–6350. All items should be placed in a closed bag and left outside by the curb on their assigned collection day. Helpsy will accept donations in any type of bag, so long as the items are dry and clean. Two drop-off boxes for textiles are also located at 815 Newton Street, across from Skyline Park.
